Service Description

What is EMDR? EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps you work through distressing memories and experiences. It supports healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, addictions, and relationship or attachment difficulties. How EMDR Helps: Traumatic experiences can get “stuck” in the brain, triggering strong emotions, physical sensations, or negative self-beliefs like “I am unsafe” or “I am unworthy.” EMDR helps reprocess these memories so they no longer hold the same emotional power, allowing you to: • Reduce distress from past trauma • Manage anxiety and emotional overwhelm • Build self-compassion and positive thinking • Access your own natural healing ability What Happens in a Session? You’ll focus on a difficult memory while gently following side-to-side eye movements or hand taps. This engages the brain’s natural processing system, helping memories lose their intensity. EMDR doesn’t rely heavily on talking, making it ideal if it’s difficult to put your experiences into words. Evidence-Based and Trusted: EMDR is recommended by the NHS, NICE, and World Health Organization, and is supported by research for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, and more. Take the Next Step: If you feel EMDR could help you move forward, you’re welcome to get in touch to discuss how therapy could support your healing
